Football - Benzema out of France squad due to injury

The Confederation of French football on Friday, striker Karim Benzema, Real Madrid will miss France's match against Belarus qualifier for the finals of Euro 2012 because of an ankle injury.
The EU said in a statement issued a few hours before the meeting, which will be held at the Stade de France: "After a player to take a final test on Friday morning decided not to join Benzema squad to be chosen by coach Laurent Blanc to face Belarus."
The statement added: "The safety of the player is essential at this stage of injury in his right ankle."
The federation said Benzema (22 years) is still receiving treatment "in the hope that he can return to the home fixture against Bosnia in Sarajevo on Tuesday."
